Position Title: Occupational Medicine Manager

Position Description: Beck Field & Associates is a medical perm placement firm working with physician offices, groups and clinics in the San Antonio area. We are currently working with a multi-faceted group that has an immediate opportunity for an OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE MANAGER.

Under the general direction of the Practice Administrator, the Occupational Medicine Manager assumes the responsibility for the occupational medicine department. Plans, organizes and directs all occupational medicine activities for the company to include case management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manages the administration of the occupational medicine function to both enlarge and increase the use of the organization's services.

  2. Selects, trains and manages the occupational medicine staff, keeping them informed of policy, regulatory, reimbursement, product/service changes.

  3. Develops both long and short term goals and objectives for the department.

  4. Develops cost projects, benefits and usage rates for new services. Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that the department remains within the allocated funds.

  5. Educates staff in marketing clinic services.

  6. Evaluates performance of staff to ensure quality of service and technical expertise. Reviews personnel actions including merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions.

  7. Attends a variety of administrative meetings to make policy decisions and identify and seek solutions to problems.

  8. Works collaboratively with management and other departments to streamline patient care. Utilizes Total Quality Management methods in problem identification and resolution.

  9. Assist in the development of new product and services that address the needs of the business community and reflect current federal and state regulations.

  10. Assures compliance with legal and ethical guidelines relevant to provided services.

  11. Partner with management and clinic supervisors to identify needs assessments, develop and deliver effective training programs.

  12. Maintain a Competitive Analysis on competitors and be prepared to discuss when necessary.

  13. Develops and maintains database of information and process for completion of RFP's from prospective payers.

  14. Collaborates with appropriate managers to strategize on appropriate response for RFP's and to complete them in accurate, timely and attractive manner.

  15. Participates in the development of new products/services and strategies to maintain and enhance medical practice's position in the marketplace including customer satisfaction strategies.

  16. Assesses plans, implements, coordinates, monitors and evaluates. This includes case management, coordination of care, and medical management.

Position Requirements: Associates (LVN) or Bachelors degree (RN) in Nursing from an accredited college. EXPERIENCE: Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in health management, experience in industrial/occupational health setting.

REQUIREMENTS: If car is used, must provide proof of adequate insurance coverage and current state driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Knowledge of health care reimbursement, including all aspects of managed care payment practices and workers' compensation.

  2. Knowledge of worker's compensation system.

  3. Knowledge of state of the art in occupational/industrial health. Stays abreast of current trends.

  4. Knowledge of corporate policies, practices and protocols.

  5. Knowledge of the principles of Total Quality Management. Job holder participates in ongoing continuing education in occupational medicine, marketing and management.

SKILLS:

  1. Skill in promoting positive interdepartmental and external working relationships.

  2. Skill in effectively producing reports, processing forms, etc.

  3. Skill in maximizing cost efficiencies in care, equipment, inventory and supplies.

  4. Skill in appropriately sharing information with customers and staff, while honoring confidentiality requirements.

  5. Skill in developing and conducting needs analysis and satisfaction surveys.

  6. Skill in developing and implementing effective communications programs using writing and editing techniques and showing interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making competencies.

ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively and respond positively to payers/customers as well as internal staff.

  2. Ability to represent company appropriately and to seek and receive feedback on programs and services.

  3. Ability to have strong organizational capabilities.

  4. Ability to select, train and motivate an effective team.

  5. Ability to evaluate strategic marketing, pricing and customer service issues. 6. Ability to analyze financial and other data for effective decision-making.

Position Description: The Dow Chemical Company is seeking a person for the role of Nurse Practitioner to join our team in providing top quality occupational health services at our manufacturing facility in Freeport, TX. We need an independent and organized member to join the occupational health team to provide clinical, health asses
sment, and preventive health services for Dow employees and specified contract employees.

Responsibilities:

Provide clinical care:

  • Management of work-related injuries and illnesses, as well as limited personal injuries and illnesses within the scope of practice.

  • Implement medical surveillance programs, provide health assessment services and develop the specific Health Assessment Programs plan for assigned employee groups.

  • Provide health education and counseling and support delivery of the sites' preventive wellness services.

  • Participate in the management and administration of the occupational health services environment.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of Health Services programs and plans. Case Management of work related and non-work related injury/illnesses.

Position Requirements:

  • Current licensure as an advance practice registered nurse in Texas is required.

  • Three to five years of clinical experience recommended; previous experience in occupational health is desirable but not required.

  • Knowledge of audiometric testing, spirometry, DOT standards, drug testing, and BAT is desired but not required.

  • BLS/ACLS up to date or ability to recertify upon selection.

  • Experience with electronic filing of records is an asset.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. - based position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or qualifying Asylee / Refugee).

  • At least 5 years nursing experience; preferably with three years in occupational health.

  • Our preference is for a Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S).
